El Alto Representante de la Unión Europea para Asuntos Exteriores y Política de Seguridad ha hecho una declaración que parecería ser una crítica a la dictadura totalitaria cubana. Sin embargo no hay una sola condena o rechazo explícito a la represión desatada tras las manifestaciones pacíficas, ni a los juicios carentes de garantías al debido proceso ni a las injustas y largas condenas, solo «preocupación».
Ante lo expresado por Josep Borrell en nombre de la Unión Europea, que toca la aceptación, el contubernio y la complicidad con la dictadura totalitaria cubana, el Movimiento Cristiano Liberación, que por más de 30 años ha sufrido la represión del Partido Comunista y su brazos militares, incluido el asesinato extrajudicial de su líder fundador, el Premio Sájarov a la Libertad de Conciencia Oswaldo Payá y del joven Harold Cepero, así como el encarcelamiento y destierro de muchos de sus miembros:
- Condena en los más enérgicos términos tanto la brutal represión desatada por la dictadura totalitaria cubana como las farsas judiciales y las injustas sentencias impuestas a quienes sólo han ejercido su legítimo derecho a la protesta.
- Rechaza categóricamente la posición ambigua y complaciente de la Unión Europea con respecto a la dictadura totalitaria cubana así como el tono y el lenguaje que utiliza el también Vicepresidente de la Comisión Europea después de más de 60 años de represión comunista en la Isla.
- Reconoce que la Unión Europea es soberana en su actual decisión de tomar como referencia a la tiranía impuesta en la Isla e incluso de hasta negociar y cooperar con los asesinos y represores del pueblo cubano, pero no acepta, bajo ningún concepto, que los actos de complicidad de políticos y empresarios que hacen negocios con la dictadura, así como sus declaraciones, sean usadas para simular solidaridad con el pueblo cubano. Para el MCL, por los hechos concretos y no por la retórica de las declaraciones y discursos, queda claro cuáles son los intereses europeos en Cuba.
- Llama a toda la comunidad internacional a aislar a la junta político-militar que segrega y reprime al pueblo cubano, tal y como se hizo el siglo pasado contra el régimen del apartheid sudafricano y como se está haciendo en la actualidad, quizás demasiado tardíamente, contra un Vladimir Putin desbocado y alentado por el sentido de impunidad transmitido por las democracias del mundo ante cada una de sus agresiones anteriores y de sus asesinatos extrajudiciales selectivos contra miembros de la oposición y la sociedad civil rusa. Para ello hemos propuesto a la comunidad internacional Once Acciones Concretas que podrían implementar para el aislamiento de la dictadura totalitaria cubana y en solidaridad con el derecho a la libertad de los cubanos, entre ellas específicamente a la Unión Europea que suspenda su Acuerdo de Cooperación con Cuba, que en la práctica no ha sido más que un acuerdo para el financiamiento y apoyo político de la dictadura.
La comunidad internacional debe definir de qué lado se va a posicionar. Recordamos las palabras del Premio Nobel de la Paz sudafricano Desmond Tutu, «si eres neutral en situaciones de injusticia, has elegido el lado del opresor». O se apoya al pueblo cubano y sus aspiraciones de una vida en libertad y con todos los derechos, o se apoya la continuidad de la dictadura totalitaria que segrega y reprime a los cubanos.

SUPPORT THE CUBAN PEOPLE, NOT THE DICTATORSHIP
The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy has made a statement that would appear to be a criticism of the Cuban totalitarian dictatorship. However, there is not a single condemnation or explicit rejection of the repression unleashed after the peaceful demonstrations, nor of the trials lacking guarantees of due process, nor of the unjust and long sentences, only «concern.»
Given what Josep Borrell expressed on behalf of the European Union, which touches on acceptance, collusion and complicity with the Cuban totalitarian dictatorship, the Liberation Christian Movement, which for over 30 years has suffered the repression of the Communist Party and its armed bodies, including the extrajudicial assassination of its founding leader, the Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought Oswaldo Payá and young Harold Cepero, as well as the imprisonment and exile of many of its members:
- Condemns in the strongest terms both the brutal repression unleashed by the Cuban totalitarian dictatorship and the judicial farces and unjust sentences imposed on those who have only exercised their legitimate right to protest.
- Categorically rejects the ambiguous and complacent position of the European Union with respect to the Cuban totalitarian dictatorship as well as the tone and language used by the Vice President of the European Commission after more than 60 years of communist repression on the Island.
- Recognizes that the European Union is sovereign in its current decision to take as the reference the tyranny imposed on the Island, and even to negotiate and cooperate with the murderers and repressors of the Cuban people, but does not accept, under any circumstances, that the acts of complicity by politicians and entrepreneurs who do business with the dictatorship, as well as their statements, are used to simulate solidarity with the Cuban people. For the Liberation Christian Movement, based on concrete facts and not on the rhetoric of the declarations and speeches, it is clear what the European interests in Cuba are.
- Calls on the entire international community to isolate the political-military junta that segregates and represses the Cuban people, as was done last century against the South African apartheid regime and as is being done today, perhaps too late, against a Vladimir Putin out of control and encouraged by the sense of impunity transmitted by the world’s democracies in the face of each of his previous aggressions and his selective extrajudicial assassinations against members of the Russian opposition and civil society. For this we have proposed to the international community Eleven Concrete Actions that could be implemented for the isolation of the Cuban totalitarian dictatorship and in solidarity with the right to freedom of Cubans, among them we specifically ask the European Union to suspend its Cooperation Agreement with Cuba, which in practice has been nothing more than an agreement for the financial and political support of the dictatorship.
The international community must define which side it is going to position itself on. We recall the words of South African Nobel Peace Prize winner Desmond Tutu, «If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor». Either you support the Cuban people and their aspirations for a life in freedom and with all rights, or you support the continuity of the totalitarian dictatorship that segregates and represses Cubans.
